Memorable places for food
Following is a list of the places we visited for meals, etc on the bicycling trip from Pittsburgh to D.C. My brothers, Sonia, her dad – Fred Fields, Kyle Hord and Ann Proudfoot rode the Great Allegheny Passage/C&O Canal Towpath trail beginning Monday, Aug 29 and ending Sep 3, 2016.
There are other places we ate, but these are the places I wanted to remember.
- Pittsburgh – Double Wide Grill
- Ohiopyle, PA –
- Ohiopyle House Cafe – nice dinner with the group
- Falls Market Rest. & General Store – post-ride milkshake
- Cumberland, MD – Queen City Creamery for ice cream/milkshake with Richard, Ann and Kyle
- Little Orleans, MD – Bill’s Place, nice lunch with group. I enjoyed a fried baloney sandwich. This is a ‘biker bar’ that bicyclists enjoy too.
- Hancock – Potomac River Grill, Yuenglings with Ann and Kyle, then dinner with group. Grilled ham and cheese sandwich.
- Williamsport, MD – Desert Rose Cafe, lunch with group
- Harper’s Ferry, WV – Coach House Bar & Grill. I believe this was where we had lunch.
- Leesburg, VA
- White’s Ferry – I’m only including this because the family that owns/operates the ferry also has a store on the MD side. Very pricey, but also great availability.
- Del Rio Restaurant – Mexican dinner near the Days Inn.
- Washington, DC – Capitol Lounge. Chichen fingers for lunch with Jeff, Garrison, and Gabe. Dinners here were at Robert’s and Christy’s apartment. Crab and gumbo on Saturday and pizza and leftover gumbo on Sunday!
